Tuesday, December 30—Community Days: Sitcom Spotlight: I Love Lucy. I Love Lucy was an iconic and groundbreaking sitcom that is well worth celebrating. Developed and brought to the screen by television pioneers. Join Film Historian Dr. Annette Bochenek for a presentation about the history and development of I Love Lucy, the show’s on- and off-screen achievements, and the legacy of the show today. The program will include a multimedia presentation consisting of photos, video clips, and captivating stories.
Tuesday, January 6—Community Days: The History and Mystery of Benjamin Franklin. Benjamin Franklin was born on January 6, 1706 (Julian Calendar), but in 1752 the Gregorian Calendar was adopted by Great Britain and his birthday has since been observed on January 17. Celebrate Ben’s birthday and learn about the fascinating life of one of America’s most intriguing founding fathers. Franklin humbly began his life in Boston and arrived in Philadelphia as a 17 year old runaway printer’s apprentice. During his lifetime he would create a printing newspaper and printing empire, become a public servant and inventor. This would all culminate with being Ambassador to France, a signer of the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution.
Tuesday, January 13—Community Days: Elder Abuse: Signs and Resources with CJE Social Worker Shayna Jenski. Join one of CJE’s social workers, Shayna Jensky, as we discuss ways to keep yourself and your loved ones safe as well as resources for elder abuse. Take this opportunity to ask questions and feel empowered to protect yourself and others.
Tuesday, January 20—Community Days: A Spin Around the Globe: Right Split. On the Right Split, we tour Egypt’s ancient pyramids and escape to Croatia’s Hvar Island. We soar in hot air balloons over Türkiye and brave Mauritania’s infamous Iron Ore train. Learn about the dizzying climb to Mount Everest Base Camp and salivate over Thailand’s bold flavors. We also unpack challenges and takeaways, finishing with a Q&A.
Tuesday, January 27—Community Days: Stories Behind the Songs: Democracy Now! with Musician Rob Lutes. To honor the founding philosophy of many great nations, musician Rob Lutes will perform and play songs related to this treasured form of government: democracy.
